Calculated figures are estimates

The feed rates, plunge rates and chip loads produced by the calculators on this site are estimates derived from published tooling-manufacturer reference data and the formulas documented on the methodology page. They are not test results, and this site has not measured them on any machine.

The calculators cannot account for your machine's rigidity, the condition of your cutter, your work-holding, or whether your spindle maintains its commanded speed under load. Always prove a new setting on scrap material before committing to a finished piece.

Machining is hazardous

CNC routers cause serious injury. Dust from MDF and FR4 is a respiratory hazard. You are responsible for the safe operation of your own equipment, for following your manufacturer's instructions, and for appropriate protective equipment and extraction. Nothing on this site is a substitute for that.

Specifications and prices

Specifications are transcribed from manufacturer sources in good faith and may contain errors or become outdated. Prices are dated observations, not offers, and the retailer's price at the time of purchase is the one that applies. Verify anything that matters to your buying decision with the manufacturer or retailer directly.
